 The Lakshapana waterfall.





The Lakshapana waterfall is one of the most beautiful and famous waterfalls in Sri Lanka, situated in the Nuwara Eliya District, near the town of Maskeliya. It is about 126 meters high and hence one of the highest waterfalls of the country.

Maskeliya Oya is considered one of the Kelani River's main tributaries and an important source of water for hydropower generation in Sri Lanka, feeding this waterfall. The surrounding area consists of a lush green landscape with tea estates and views that extend to the hills not very far away from it.

Thus, Lakshapana Falls is also a culturally important waterfall as it is the place where, according to tradition, the Buddha dried his robes after bathing on one of his visits to Sri Lanka. There are many local and international tourists who visit these falls for their natural beauty combined with tranquility and hiking opportunities.

Baddegana wetland park.








Baddegana is a suburb situated very close to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, the administrative capital of Sri Lanka. It has been renowned for its tranquil residential areas surrounded by nature and is especially famous for housing the Baddegana Wetland Park, believed to be a hotspot for bird watching and nature walks. The area combines urban conveniences with natural beauty, hence offering a quiet retreat not too far from town.

Aragalaya.




The "Aragalaya" refers to the peaceful protest movement in Sri Lanka that took place in 2022, where citizens rallied against the government due to economic mismanagement, corruption, and rising inflation. The movement, which translates to "struggle" in Sinhala, saw widespread demonstrations demanding political change, accountability, and better living conditions. It played a key role in the resignation of the then-president and government officials. The protests were largely driven by ordinary citizens from all walks of life, making it a significant moment in Sri Lanka's recent history.

Temple of the tooth.




The Temple of the Tooth, "Sri Dalada Maligawa" is a Buddhist temple complex especially venerable in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It holds the "Relic of the Tooth of the Buddha"one of the most important relics of Buddhism. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important places of pilgrimage for Buddhists of the whole world. With its beautiful architecture, traditional Kandyan artistry combined with its role in religious and cultural history make it an important landmark. The temple is also the center of the annual "Esala Perahera"  a grand procession celebrating the sacred tooth relic.

Hortan plains.






Horton Plains National Park is a beautiful national park in Sri Lanka's central highlands, eminent for its panoramic landscapes, fresh climate, and salubrious biodiversity. It offers enormous grassy plains, cloud forests, and mist-shrouded hills. Probably the most famous sight here is "World's End", an escarpment that drops sheer about 870 meters, offering spectacular views on clear days. It has, amongst others, the breathtakingly beautiful waterfall known as "Baker's Falls". Since Horton Plains contain a great deal of wildlife, such as sambar deer, leopards, and many endemic bird varieties, it is also a very strong attraction for nature lovers who enjoy trekking and bird watching.

Galle fort.






First built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and extensively fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century, Galle Fort is located in the city of Galle on Sri Lanka's southwestern coast. The fort has been declared a World Heritage site, its well-preserved colonial architecture reflecting cobblestone streets and a blend of European and South Asian influences. It houses variousattractions such as museums, churches, temples, cafes, and boutiques. Its walls allow an astonishing view of the Indian Ocean, making it among the favorite destination spots for tourists.


Hanthana mauntain.


Hanthana is a mountain range located near Kandy in central Sri Lanka, famous for its scenic beauty and rich biodiversity. It’s a popular destination for hiking and trekking, offering trails with stunning views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and the city of Kandy. The Hanthana range is also known for its cool climate, making it a refreshing escape for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Additionally, it has been an inspiration for artists and writers and is a favorite among university students in Kandy for outdoor activities.

Kaludiya pokuna.







Kaludiya Pokuna in Pitigala is an ancient site located in the Galle District of Sri Lanka. It is known for its serene forest surroundings and an ancient pond (Pokuna) with dark, still water, giving it the name "Kaludiya" which means "black water" in Sinhala. The site is historically significant, as it contains ancient ruins, including remnants of Buddhist monasteries and inscriptions dating back centuries. Kaludiya Pokuna is a peaceful, lesser-known attraction, perfect for those interested in history, archaeology, and nature.


Koneswaram kovil.




Koneswaram Kovil is a historic Hindu temple located in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Perched on Swami Rock, a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, the temple is considered one of the Pancha Ishwarams(five abodes of Shiva) and is a sacred site for Hindus. The temple has a rich history dating back over 2,000 years, though it was destroyed by the Portuguese in the 17th century and later rebuilt. Known for its beautiful architecture, vibrant religious festivals, and panoramic views of the ocean, Koneswaram Kovil attracts pilgrims and tourists alike.
